She received the award during a special banquet in Springfield on Nov. 15. GOLF TOURNAMENT—JUNE 1 The 29th annual Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation Medical Excellence Golf Classic is scheduled for Saturday, June 1. The classic is an 18-hole, four-person scramble at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar. All money raised goes to the Medical Excellence Scholarship. CMH offers free parenting classes Citizens Memorial Hospital is hosting free parenting classes on Thursday, March 21, and Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in CMH Community Rooms in Bolivar. Information is presented by Stephen Finzo, PsyD, a licensed psychologist in practice at Butterfield Park Medical Center in Bolivar. Sponsored by CMH Behavioral Health, the three-hour “1-2-3 Magic” parenting class is a video-led series taking a humorous look at parenting and a serious look at discipline. It will focus on controlling obnoxious behavior through parenting techniques, encouraging behavior that promotes children to start doing what you want them to do, and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Tween Girls Night In— Tuesday, April 16 Citizens Memorial Hospital will host a free “girls only” event for tweens on April 16 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Open to girls ages 9 to 13 and their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, caregivers and/or mentors. Tweens will learn about growing up, puberty, life-coping skills and more. Participants will have a safe space to ask questions, hear from experts and have fun. Limited edition 2019 CMH Girls Night In T-shirts are available in youth and adult sizes. Space is limited, and reservations are requested. Register for the Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation’s Heroes for Hospice 5K/10K run on Saturday, May 4. Both courses will begin in front of the CMH Community Rooms and will conclude with a loop around Dunnegan Park. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be electronically timed for accuracy. Medals will be awarded to overall male and female winners in both races, first place male and female winners in each age division, and oldest and youngest “hero.” Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero!
