2 VITALITY Spring 2018 Spring is near What an unusually cold winter! The short days combined with a constant cold wind may have you dreaming of spring, sunshine and blue skies. You may have gained a few pounds during winter hibernation. Now that the weather is getting warmer, it is a great time to turn it around and start a healthier lifestyle. Want to lose some weight? We offer eight ways to shed a few pounds on page 10. Whether you are just starting or you are an experienced rider, bicycling is a great way to stay fit. On page 11 learn a few tips about bike safety. Did you know that 15.6 million Americans have been diagnosed with dementia? On page 12 and 13, read about a patient’s journey through an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis. The patient was part of CMH neurologist Dr. Curtis Schreiber’s IDEAS (Imaging Dementia—Evidence for Amyloid Scanning) Study in 2017. Patient safety is an important focus at CMH. Read on page 15 about how our long-term care facilities use technology to ensure patient safety through its Barcode Medication Verification program. Be sure to check out page 16 for a list of our newest medical staff. CMH is continually growing, and we are blessed with amazing medical providers.
