From mowing lawn and gardening to long walks in the park with the family, don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and get more exercise. Recent research by King’s College in London suggests that exercise decreases the risk of depression, regardless of age and region. While you are enjoying more exercise, be sure to stay well hydrated. Page 5 shares several tips and facts about the importance of drinking enough water. Also on page 5 is an article about massage therapy. Some of you may have never thought about getting a massage, but growing evidence suggests that massage therapy can help with pain relief, migraines, and pain from fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome. CMH has three professionally trained and licensed massage therapists on staff at CMH Therapeutic Touch. Call 417-777-4263 to schedule an appointment. Check out our article on pages 6 and 7 related to summer safety tips. Vacations are exciting, but sunburns or a mosquito or tick bite can dampen the fun. Play it safe with these seven safety tips for the whole family. The American Heart Association recently changed its definition of high blood pressure. On page 9 we list a chart with the new AHA definitions. If you haven’t had your blood pressure checked recently, make an appointment with your primary care physician (PCP) for your annual wellness exam. If you don’t have a PCP, call our CMH Information Center at 417-328-6010 for assistance. We have many exciting and new services starting this year, including endocrinology and gastroenterology.
