A: One of the most promising areas in cancer care is immunotherapy. Bispecific T-cell engagers (bispecifics) enable the body’s own immune system to target tumor cells with unprecedented efficacy and precision. In research performed to date, bispecifics have shown significant promise in improving cancer outcomes, particularly for hematologic cancers such as lymphomas, multiple myeloma and leukemias. These results highlight the potential of bispecifics to treat other cancers with similar mechanisms, in addition to solid tumors. For example, there have been recent successful clinical trials in patients with prostate cancer and gastric cancer and ongoing clinical trials in breast, lung and other cancers. Our cancer center team has accumulated extensive experience with treating multiple types of tumors over the past several years. Patients travel to us from almost 100 miles to receive cutting-edge therapy, including bispecifics.
